New York City, May 2000. The Internet bubble has burst and Evan, a computer programmer, is fired with an email from his boss. The next day, his girlfriend dumps him, also via email. Afraid to check any more emails, Evan desperately seeks a rebound romance but the catastrophes that ensue go from bad to hilariously worse.
Fortunately, Evan meets Sammy -- someone whose legendary disasters with females eclipse even his own. To reverse their fortunes, they recruit their friends -- Trevor, Yi, and Carlos -- to form a group of five guys who take on Manhattan in pursuit of dates, sex, and adventure.
When Evan, a closet writer, falls desperately in love with a Hollywood starlet, he schemes to meet her by writing a novel that will sweep her off her feet. Sammy knows nothing about publishing but is confident of one thing Evan's book should have the word "sex" in the title.
With musings about life, relationships, and human psychology, this quintessential New York story about the search for happiness follows five men on their comical paths to trouble, self-discovery, and love.

This is a rather funny book that has so far been very well received since its release. It is worth this praise and success in large measure because it is a witty, well thought out, splendidly executed satire on growing up at the time when I grew up. It is certainly funny in of itself, but now it also has that sort of ‘retro’ feel to it, that half emotional ambience about how things were so much better / downright archaic back at the turn of the century (depending upon whether you grew up then or after). The book does cover the evergreen issue of coming to terms with life and finding a niche within it that fits somewhere between the ambitions we set ourselves as youngsters and the realities of the daily grind. There are very few people who have it easy all of the time and that extends into all aspects of life. Contrary to the title’s clever marketing, this is not all about sex, but in the way that American Pie was not all about sex, because you can clearly argue that it is, even though the bonding of friends who hold firm intially opposing and then embracing the inevitable pressures of growing up is very important to the story.
It is a very important positive that the author does not stray away from the comic into the embarrassing which is all too easy pitfall. It was to me a tale of coincidence and growing up, a story about how to deal with life when all life is sending is hard knocks; it is also a little bit of a heart warmer because it does help us recall that, more often than not, it does work out, even though nothing like originallt intentioned.

Sex in the Title a Comedy about Dating Sex and Romance in NYC back when phones weren't so smart edition by Zack Love Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Cute, quirky, witty, and funny. I liked this novel, it reminded me of a cross between Coupling and Seinfeld. It was so nostalgic, reading about life in the late 90's and early 00's. There were a few parts that were so funny I had to stop reading from laughing so hard.
The ending was a bit of a letdown but I guess not every story has to have a perfect fairytale ending. I was just a little disappointed how one of the characters kind of wussed out. But who could blame him? I probably would have too! Hey it's not a spoiler I'm not saying who or what, just read and find out. I guess it just kind of left me hanging.
If the sequel comes out and things wrap up a little more neatly I might have to revise my opinion.
I would have given it 5 stars except there were a bit of unnecessary exposition or explanation in parts. Like, I could easily tell what the characters were doing and why but it was still carefully spelled out for the reader anyhow. There were also a few situations that seemed a little exaggerated or unbelievable but didn't really seem to serve much value, comedic or otherwise.
But I loved this novel. It's really tough finding books that have humor and romance written by and for straight males, from a guy's perspective.
Thank you Zack Love for writing this. More please, okay? That'd be swell.
This book was pretty funny! Let’s face it, in a woman dominated industry, this book would be a hit or a miss and author Zack Love definitely hit with this rom com! Even though it was set back in the 90′s to early 2000′s, it definitely made me laugh to see what these five guys really had to think about sex, relationships, romance and life in general.
Love can happen by coincidence. You never know when you’ll meet your significant other! The story is based around five guys and goes through each one and their little history. You’ll experience their life stories of embarrassment, hilarity, sexual encounters and success. Some of the situations are just so pathetic, you have to laugh (sorry guys)! It’s funny to see how each guy has a so-called plan, either in life or for love – and sometimes life derails that plan. Poor Evan got kicked down and couldn’t seem to get back up lol.
In the end this is a great story about five guys, trying to get by in life, each with their own situations but collectively they are a hilarious group of awkward men. The characters and banter kept me chuckling and shaking my head. PS – glad to see a book written by a man. Great job Zack! Funny read, definitely recommend it!
